Citizen Advocacy

Citizen Advocacy has been facilitating matches between community volunteers (advocates) and people in need of their support since 1977.

Advocates are caring individuals who want to reach out to another member of the community.

As a mentor they encourage someone to try new things and expand their horizons.

As a spokesperson an advocate provides an additional voice to ensure their partner's voice is heard.

As a friend they share in good times and provide support during challenging times.

Impact

"When you have a disability a lot of people kind of sweep you underneath the carpet and forget about you.  It is good to find someone that really appreciates you and enjoys your company."     -Kate

"The Citizen Advocacy Program provides a lot of guidance and a sense of community for all who are involved...Jason has taught me to appreciate what I have and to be glad to have someone to spend time with."     -Mark (Advocate)

"Being a volunteer advocate is something I've always wanted to do.  It is such a rewarding and satisfying feeling."
