Early Intervention

Children begin to learn from the moment they are born.  Young children learn and develop differently.  One child may walk earlier than another, while another child might talk first.  Often, these differences will even out, but sometimes children need extra help.  For these infants and toddlers, our Early Intervention Program can make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

ASPIRO's Early Intervention Program has been committed to supporting families since the 1970's as they meet the challenge of helping their children reach their fullest potential.

Early Intervention provides education, therapy and supportive services for children birth to three years of age who have a developmental delay or disability.  They support the family in meeting their child's developmental needs.  They also provide families with information, assistance and coordination of services within the community.

Program Services

Based on the individual needs of a child and family, the following services may be provided in your home or community setting:

  • Developmental Evaluation
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Speech Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Service Coordination

Because families may need information about additional supports and services in the community, our Service Coordinators make families aware of and link them to available resources.  The program is staffed by Early Childhood Special Educators.  Therapists are provided through Rehab Resources Inc.  All speech, occupational and physical therapies are pediatrically trained.

Parent Involvement

ASPIRO's Early Intervention Program cannot replace the love and security a child receives from his or her family.  Parents are their child's first and most important teacher and a vital part of the Early Intervention team.  Because our program is designed to stimulate the child's ability to learn within the context of the family, visits take place in an environment familiar to the child - their home, daycare, etc.  Families are involved in all decision-making processes from developing goals to deciding frequencies of services.  By working together, parents, teachers and therapists can build on the strengths of the family to help each child reach his or her full potential.
