Day Services Class Options
We are excited to offer more personalized programming in our Day Services this fall. We have a long list of class options that cover creativity, personal health and learning! To help us develop a schedule that best fits your likes and needs, please select your top ten choices. While we cannot guarantee that you will get every class you want, we will do our best to schedule classes and activities that you like best. This session of classes will run through December. If no choices are made, we will do our best to create a fun schedule for you. Please submit your choices by August 27.
Technology-Learn to navigate on a PC and iPad as well as discussion for safe, socially acceptable technology uses.
Sign Language-Learn basic signing skills to help with communication and learn to sign the lyrics of a popular song.
ASPIRO Newsletter-Looking into current events at ASPIRO, the greater community and the world. Clients will work on writing articles, editing, and layouts for a publication.
Journaling/Creative Writing-Journaling, writing poetry making dream boards and collages are all skills to help you discover and express yourself.
Cooking Class-Meal planning, grocery shopping and basic cooking skills will be a focus of this class. And did we mention the tasty end results?
Science Experiments-Explore the world around you through science experiments.
World Travel & Exploration -We will discover and explore destinations all around the world via class discussions and virtual tours. We learn about the location, language, landmarks, culture, sports, food and exciting fun facts. The adventure is enhanced by use of our "passports" and the making of our photo albums/scrapbooks.
Music Theory-This class will be all about the terms of music, how they are used, why they are important, and will cover how to read music.
Learn Piano-Learn the notes on a piano and how to play them. It is recommended to take this class in conjunction with Music Theory.
Choir-Learn songs and perform with peers!
Drums Alive-Bring out the rock star drummer in you with this rhythmic class that will teach how to hold drumsticks, drumming patterns and great music.
Crafts-Clients will be able to express themselves creatively as they learn and use basic crafting skills to create handicrafts for themselves and their homes. Some of the materials used will include paper, yarn, beads, felt and wood. Patience will be applied as we take the necessary time to work on projects they are sure to be proud of.
Fine Arts-Creative, visual art through drawing and painting. The class will also explore other art materials and processes.
Health, Fitness & Recreation
Ballroom Dancing-Learn the timeless activity of ballroom dancing. Work on basic dance steps individually as well as with a partner.
Meditation and Relaxation-This course will offer experiences in multiple relaxation and breathing techniques that will help bring the calm whenever and wherever needed.
Yoga-Build strength and flexibility in this all level yoga class. Mats will be provided.
Pool League-Practice your skills and have fun with your friends.
Sports Skills-This class will focus on teamwork and basic skills of a variety of team sports. Learn to improve your skills and work together.
Stability Ball Stretch-A yoga influenced class that combines full body stretching with the use of a stability ball.
Dance Dance Dance-A choreographed movement class that includes modern pop and classic music.
Ready-Set-Go-A class for clients on the move…on a bike or treadmill. Let’s plot a destination and go!
Lively Low Impact-A class for clients looking to improve their strength through body weight movements in a safe exercise environment.
For the Health of It-This class takes a look at food selection and healthy food choices. It addresses topics such as diabetes, eating disorders, and building a healthy happy self.
