Positive Parenting
Positive Parenting provides intensive, supportive services for families in which one or both parents have an intellectual disability. Services are voluntary and provided in the home and community. The program provides support and assistance to expectant parents, parents of infants, as well as parents of older children.

Positive Parenting serves families residing in Brown County. Services are free of charge to eligible families.
Families are referred to the program by a variety of sources including physicians, public health nurses, social workers and teachers. Referral sources may use the following criteria to help identify eligible parents:

- Assistance with basic needs such as food, housing, clothing and transportation
- Linking families to physicians and other health providers
- Child Development Screening and Education
- Nutritional Screening and Education
- Parenting Education
- Home Management Education
- Information and Referral
- Social/Recreational Opportunities
- Case Management
Eligibility
Positive Parenting serves families residing in Brown County. Services are free of charge to eligible families.
Families are referred to the program by a variety of sources including physicians, public health nurses, social workers and teachers. Referral sources may use the following criteria to help identify eligible parents:
- Attendance in special education classes for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Receives Supplemental Security Income for an intellectual disability.
- Current or previous participation in a vocational program designed for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Cognitive limitations reflected in the need for support in such areas as self-care, learning, self-direction, independent living and economic sufficiency.
